Is it worth seeing?

Diablo Cody

The Jagged Little Pill Musical is a jukebox musical with songs by Alanis Morissette and a book by Diablo Cody. It includes additional music by Michael Farrell and Guy Sigsworth. It is based on the album that Morissette released in 1995. The storyline deals with pain, healing, and empowerment. Ultimately, the play is about the power of love and acceptance.

The music in this stage production is fantastic, and the choreography is top-notch. It also has some beautiful music by Glen Ballard, Morissette, and Kitt. The original album was produced by Glen Ballard. Elizabeth Stanley plays the role of Mary Jane, the typical Diablo Cody protagonist. Stanley nails her role. The script is clever and witty. While the show may not be a must-see, it’s definitely worth seeing.

Despite being a spoof of the Juno musical, the musical uses the music and lyrics of Alanis Morissette’s iconic album. The script, directed by Diane Paulus, also contains Diablo Cody’s book and lyrics. Tom Kitt supervised the music while Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui crafted the choreography. The show contains strong language, drug use, sexual violence, strobe, and haze, but the lyrics are memorable.

The show is based on the seminal album by the Canadian singer-songwriter Alanis Morissette. It was a landmark album for women, celebrating their vulnerability and anger. The musical captures the essence of the record, as Morissette said. Diablo Cody’s open heart and natural activism have earned him an impressive resume. The musical played at the A.R.T. for 10 weeks and became one of the highest-grossing productions in history. The Broadway cast has not been announced as of this writing.

Although the musical isn’t a bio-musical, it has its merits. The cast includes a recognizable number of singers from the musical genre, including Alanis. The musical’s atypical plot revolves around the song’s love triangle, with Frankie being torn between Phoenix and Jo. The story of a love triangle involving a heroin addict and a rape victim is also explored in the musical.

The musical’s overstuffed with social issues

The plot of Jagged Little Pill is about a suburban American family caught in the crossfire of contemporary and social issues. Their queer activist daughter is pushing for change on climate change and gun violence, while their image-conscious son is grappling with the rape of a close friend. The production has a strong cast, with Elizabeth Stanley and Diablo Cody giving solid performances. The show’s overall message is that we all should fight for our rights and freedoms.

Alanis Morissette’s “Jagged Little Pill” opened Thursday on Broadway, and while it does address social issues like sexual assault and opioid addiction, it doesn’t go deep enough. Instead, the show focuses on many other issues, like race, bisexuality, and gender identity. While there are plenty of social issues to address, the production falls short regarding choreography and pacing.

The musical’s love triangle

The love triangle in Jagged Little Pill is a complicated story; its characters often find themselves on opposite sides of the spectrum. The overachieving Nick Healy (Sebastian Banes) falls in love with the attractive Bella (Kathryn Gallagher). The resulting rape causes complex emotions in Mary Jane (Mary Jane McHugh), who was once a victim of similar rape. Mary Jane rekindles a deep thirst for justice after the event. Moreover, she struggles with opioid addiction. Director Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui utilizes doubling to convey her out-of-body experiences.

The music in Jagged Little Pill is excellent, and the show’s fantastic choreography. The show also features some excellent dancing and singing. Music by Glen Ballard (Jagged Little Pill) is also a highlight, and the songs were adapted from the original album. Although the show features a love triangle, it also has a story arc that focuses on a family’s dysfunctional relationship.
